Tinchu Kumar is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and EMDR therapist with over 15 years of experience working across mental health, child and family services, alcohol and other drug treatment, and community health settings in Australia and New Zealand. She is enthusiastic about helping people navigate life’s challenges, heal from difficult experiences, and reconnect with their strengths and values.
Tinchu brings a warm, practical, and compassionate approach to therapy. She understands that every person’s story is unique and believes meaningful change happens when people feel genuinely heard, respected, and supported. Her work focuses on creating a safe therapeutic space where individuals can explore challenges, build resilience, and develop greater confidence in themselves and their relationships.
Throughout her career, Tinchu has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, emotional regulation difficulties, family conflict, relationship challenges, substance use concerns, and the impacts of adverse life experiences. She has experience working within public mental health services, early psychosis programs, child and youth mental health teams, and family support services.
Her therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and tailored to the individual needs of each person. Tinchu integrates evidence-based interventions while remaining curious about each person’s lived experience, cultural background, relationships, and personal goals.
