Alexis Reinheimer

Social Work and Counsellor

Alexis believes that everyone has the right to a happy and fulfilling life despite life’s constant challenges.

As a therapist, she provides a person-centred, trauma-informed and nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their emotions and work towards their mental health goals. Alexis supports young people and adults from diverse backgrounds with issues such as stress and anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, loneliness, grief, and life transitions. She uses a solution-based perspective to tailor sessions to clients’ strengths and interests. Alexis draws from various evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness. Alexis greatly values diversity, offering a neurodiversity-affirming approach that is gender and sexuality-affirming and culturally sensitive.

Alexis holds a Master of Social Work degree from Monash University in Australia and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from St. Lawrence University in the United States. She is also studying a Master of Counselling and plans to graduate in December 2025. Alexis is an accredited Meditation Teacher with the Meditation Association of Australia and a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Alexis has experience working in homelessness, disability, tertiary and secondary education, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselling, and youth mental health. She volunteers as a mentor for social work students and new graduates.

Alexis grew up in the US, studied abroad in Denmark and has been living in Australia for over 10 years. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, nature, learning, yoga, meditation, cooking, art, and spending quality time with friends and family.
